Thirteen Places I Want to Visit.

Thirteen Places I would like to visit in my lifetime. Some I am sure I will get to, others I will only be able to dream of experiencing. In no particular order.

1. Italy: If I could spend a month eating my way through this country I would be in heaven. And then I would need an additional month or so to go back through and see all the sites. There are so many places I want to see here and things I want to do I should probably do a Thursday Thirteen for Italy alone! When I have a minute I like to go here and dream.

2. England: My big brother got to spend almost two months here when he was in the Navy. He took amazing pictures and whenever he comes to visit me I always spend some time drooling over the pictures on his computer. I would start in the east and work my way west. Lose yourself here  or here for a bit like I do.

3. Ireland: Do you see a theme yet? I want to see entire countries, I cannot narrow it down to a single city! When dreaming about Ireland I go here and here for the visuals.

4.Napa Valley, California:I know that someday I will make it out to California and I hope that I will be able to find the time to visit Napa Valley. I have friends on the west coast that go their often and I try not to picture throwing darts at their heads when they tell me how much fun they have had! You too can dream of Napa Valley.

5. Grand Canyon:I have flown over it twice on my way to and from Las Vegas. I would love to do an overnight hike.

6. New Orleans, Louisiana: JD is going there in October for the second time. I am only extremely slightly jealous. Anyone want to come and watch L and D so I can go too?

7. Savannah, Georgia:The historic buildings, the southern hospitality, the city’s architecture and history. I want to go right now and I fear I would never want to come home. See what I dream about here, here, and here.

8. Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia: I was browsing in the library one day for a travel guide to Washington DC. We had just moved here and I didn’t know much about the area. As I was looking I came across a travel guide for the Blue Ridge Mountains. It was love at first sight. I am hoping that we can make a visit before we leave the DC area. We live only a few hours from the area and it seems too good to miss. See for yourself here.

9. Seattle, Washington: The Space Needle, the Pike Place Market, the Waterfront, I am not sure where I would start! Go here to see a few pictures.

10. Australia: My love for Australia started back when I was a little girl and a movie called Crocodile Dundee came out. (I will give you a moment to stop laughing. Okay.) There are many facts and figures to Australia but I will give you the two that make me want to visit the most: 1. It has the lowest population density, only two people per square kilometer and 2. The coastline is linked by over ten thousand beaches. Dream a little dream with me here.

11. Montana: Every book I read that is set in this state only makes me want to visit a little sooner. Sticking with my love for low population density Big Sky Country is the fourth largest state but ranks 44th in population density. I like to go here. I can almost hear the quiet even in the big city.

12. Key West, Florida: Why wouldn’t I want to visit here? No really please give me one good reason. I can almost hear the waves crashing and feel the warm sun on my face here.

13. Virgin Islands: The year round weather averages: High 88 Low 72. I know, I am mentally packing my bag as I type this. Crystal clear water and white sandy beaches. Even I wouldn’t mind putting on a swim suit for that. Go here.

What is the number one place on your list of places you would like to visit? Be sure to click on the links of my commentors to view more Thursday Thirteen participants. You can also visit http://thursday-13.com/ to see all participants. Happy Thursday and have a great weekend.

I’ve been to a few of these. I want to go to all the rest that you mentioned. I love traveling and I just know I’ll make it to Ireland one of these days.

I will go with you for #3 and you can stay with me for #8. Deal? Okay, so I live in WV not Va but the view is better from my side of the mountains.

That’s a list of some beautiful places. I’d love to have the money to hop around and see all the incredible castles in the world.
Hope you make it to each and every one of them.
    Happy T13!

They have overnight hikes in the Grand Canyon? It’s been quite a few years since I was there, but generally we’d car camp on the rim, hike around during the day, then head back for the camp before dark. Though, actually, come to think of it, there are a few spots you could sleep without the risk of rolling into the river.

I’ve been to NO twice, but am willing to join you just about everywhere else, beginning with GB — England, Scotland, Ireland…no need to twist MY arm!

I grew up in Napa and I’d say it’s worth visiting!!!! I’d love to go to England. And Alaska. Those are the two I’d really like to see.

I would love to take a year out to ride a bike across the USA from east to west. I’d start in NYC, visit all my friends, and finish with a leisurely ride down Highway 1 to San Francisco.

Yes to Italy, England and, Australia! We’ve been to the others!

I want to move to Montana. Have a ranch there and let the bison wander out of Yellowstone and onto my property. *sigh* Good thing dreams are free.

As for the Grand Canyon, I, too, want to do an overnight. I told the kids we weren’t going to go there until they’re old enough to do it right.

And yes, go see the mountains near you! We were in Shenandoah National Park last year (see a theme here?) and just loved it. I love mountains.

I went to New Orleans this past spring and it was amazing. Going there has been a (small) obsession of mine for a few years, so when I had the chance to go, I jumped on it!

I want to visit a lot (well, all) of those places too! If only I can find the time (and prefably visit for free), lol. 🙂
