Romantic Inspiration from Cyanide??

July 12, 2009

I get inspiration for my stories from many different places. History, myths, books, movies, music, and the people around me are the big ones. I was out on my biweekly run the other day and halfway up a hill inspiration hit. I can’t tell you how many times I have listened to Metallica’s Cyanide since their new album came out, but I am thinking at least fifty times. Every time I heard a line in the chorus I thought to myself, there’s something there, I’m just not sure what. And then as I reached the top of the hill, the clouds parted, the sun shined brighter, and it all hit me like a ton of bricks. A fallen angel, sentenced to a life inside stone, the man that frees her, and her struggle to be good. Only one problem, I was a mile and a half from home and I had no pen or paper!!! (I may have to consider getting a fanny pack to carry pen and paper in if this happens again. Just promise you won’t laugh at me if you happen to see me.) So, thankfully I made it home before the idea left my chaotic brain and wrote like crazy and got it all down. Now all I have to do is write the story and find a publisher that wants to buy it. Should be easy enough right??? So what’s the strangest place you have ever found inspiration?? Here’s the link for a live recording of the song from You Tube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gwEwQjGTds, maybe it will inspire your next story.

Best,

Sophia

Oh man. I am NOT allowing a fanny pack, haha. I recommend getting one of those voice recorders and keeping it in the car (and a notepad in your purse!). They can be really small and handy in the car when you need it the most!
